White Ginger Lily “Madikera White”
a.b.t. (Antilles Bio Technologies) has created this variety of A. purpurata called "Madikera white". It has the exceptional particularity to show the bracts of inflorescence of "true white".
According our knowledge this colour didn't exist before in any part of the world. This characteristic shows all the value of this material.
This creation comes from the work of our team on both island of Martinique and Guadeloupe (W.I.), during about 10 years. It's protected by patent. |

Fushia Ginger Lily
Alpingera martinica, intergeneric hybridization between Alpinia purpurata and Etlingera elatior was performed and constitutes the first intergeneric cross involving the genera Alpinia and Etlingera. Hybrid seedlings were obtained. They were vigorous with vegetative morphology similar to the maternal parent A. purpurata, but they exhibited characters not previously observed in A. purpurata. They differ from E. elatior in the shape and colour of their inflorescences which are intermediate between the two parents, but it resembles in A. purpurata in having obloid morphology . |

It’s a tropical ornamental plant with nice inflorescences composed of layers of bracts arranged in spirals. Pink Ginger Lily
It’s one of the most exported tropical flowers to Europe, North America and Japan.
Nevertheless, before only two varieties were commercially available in this species, the red Alpinia purpurata (no cultivar name) and its pink cv. Eileen McDonald.
